Course Duration : Duration of M.Phil course shall extend over a period of one year from the Commencement of the course Non-Semester Pattern.

The programme of study shall consist of (a) Part-I :3 written paper, and (b) Part II : Dissertation. The Paper under Part I shall be : Paper I Research Methodology, Paper II An Advanced General paper in the special subject and Paper III Background special paper in the field of specialization. Paper I shall be common to all candidate in a discipline/subject (for example, for all chemistry student irrespective of the specialized branch of chemistry which the candidates may opt for Paper II & III). Paper II shall cover the broad subject area/areas relating to the specialized branch/branches choo by concerned Institution/Department. Among the available branches the candidate may have the option to choose the branch that he/she wants. A list of such specialized branches within each broad discipline will be provided by the University. The syllabi for papers I and II shall be prescribed by the concerned P.G. Board of studies. The syllabus for Paper III shall be prescribed by the research Adviser and may differ across candidates. It is a mandatory that the guide/supervisor should forward a copy of the syllabus of the III Paper to the University. The syllabi for all the papers shall consist of five units. Papers I & II shall be externally and valued by external Examiners who will form the Board of Examiners to pass the results. Paper III which should be related to the topic of dissertation shall be set and valued by research Adviser. The Examinations of Paper I and II shall be conducted by the University. The conduct for Examination for Paper III shall be arranged by the Guide within three weeks time after paper I & II examination are over. It is mandatory that the guide/Supervisor should forward a copy of the Question paper through the Head of the Institution/Department soon after the examination is over. The Guide shall also arrange to send the paper III syllabus, question paper, answer sheets and statement of marks to COE within one month after the examination of paper I & II.
